Abby Randall
Abby brings appreciation and understanding of other peoples’ values to every project, as well as high degree of creativity and attention to detail. With a strong background in interior design, she co-founded Randall Architects in 2003 with the hope to build an intimate office based on a high level of design and service.

In 1996, Abby graduated a Chancellor’s Scholar, with Honors, from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelors of Science in Architecture. During her third year, she studied at the Ecole d’Architecture in Versailles, France; in addition, she took this opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe.

After graduating, Abby had the honor of interning at Kyodo Sekkei in Osaka, Japan. With no foreknowledge of language or culture, she learned to speak Japanese and work within the cultural norms to contribute to the completion of major civic projects. Her employer honored her with the opportunity to design a donchou for the Shimotsu Community Center in Shimotsu, Japan. She was invited back the next year to speak at the building’s unveiling.

Since returning to Chicago, Abby has worked at Scott Himmel Architect where she developed the ability to design and draw extensive detail. In addition, her subsequent employment at Burns + Beyerl Architects provided her the chance to wear many hats, something that is invaluable in your own office.

When she’s not working, Abby is a food and cooking fanatic, a volunteer who has taught English as a second language at the Albany Park Community Center, and a seeker of new travels.
